Centaur launches Smart Home Show at NEC

Centaur Exhibitions is pleased to announce the launch of the Smart Home Show - the first UK consumer show to showcase the latest integrated digital home solutions. The Smart Home Show will bring together the best intelligent technological solutions and products on the market, and will attract the many thousands of people who are eager to be at the forefront of innovation.

Exploding market
The smart home, with its integrated entertainment, technology and automation, is finally becoming an affordable reality. With demand from consumers growing fast, this market is set to explode in the next few years, but there is at present no independent place for consumers to discover what is available and within their budget, and most importantly where to buy it. The UK desperately needs a consumer exhibition to act as a catalyst for this massive burgeoning market.

Guaranteed visitors
The Smart Home Show will be co-located with Centaur's highly successful and established National Homebuilding & Renovating Show, which attracted 45,576 visitors in 2004. Visitors to this show will be free to go across to The Smart Home Show without charge. A survey of visitors to the 2004 exhibition revealed that 53% would be interested in visiting The Smart Home Show.

The Smart Home Show will have its own entrance and a dedicated marketing and PR campaign designed to attract thousands of unique visitors who are early adopters with a high disposable income. The tens of thousands of visitors who cross over from the National Homebuilding & Renovating Show will just be the icing on the cake.

Nick Noble, Group Event Director at Centaur Exhibitions, comments: "The Smart Home Show will help to educate and inspire thousands of consumers and will lead to a very significant boost in business for the manufacturers and installers who exhibit."

Key Industry Support
The Smart Home Show is being backed by CEDIA (the Custom Electronic Design & Installation Association). Commenting on CEDIA's support for the show, Stephen Gough, Chairman of CEDIA said, "The Smart Home Show is a natural fit for CEDIA, which is keen to educate consumers on the extensive range of home technology products available and the custom installation expertise on offer. The Smart Home Show provides the perfect platform for the CEDIA message and we encourage all our members to take advantage of this opportunity to talk directly to informed and interested end-users."

Key Media Support
Centaur has also secured the support of the key relevant magazines who will be media partners; including Future Publishing's T3 and Digital Home magazines and Centaur's own Homebuilding & Renovating magazine.

Dan Hutchinson, Editor of Future's Digital Home magazine comments: "The world of entertainment technology is changing dramatically; integrated, interconnected digital systems are fundamentally altering the way we watch TV and films and listen to music in a really exciting way. That's what we're thrilled about on Digital Home magazine, and we're delighted that at last there will be a chance for people to see this revolution in action for themselves at the Smart Home Show. There really is no substitute for seeing this stunning technology at work, and we're excited to be working with the Smart Home Show to bring entertainment technology to life."

James Beechinor-Collins, Editor of T3 magazine comments: "There are massive changes taking place in the world of consumer technology, and many of these developments centre on the idea of the connected home. There's little doubt that they'll have an enormous impact on how we watch television, listen to music, enjoy movies and even order pizza in the future. T3 is delighted to be involved in the Smart Home Show, because it'll offer people the chance to experience these developments up close and personal. With gadgets and technology playing a bigger part in everyone's home, this show will be an ideal opportunity for people to get a better idea of how these new products and new ideas will affect their daily lives."

Michael Holmes, Editor in Chief of Homebuilding & Renovating magazine comments: "The Smart Home Show promises to replicate the phenomenal success of our homebuilding shows. It is a natural complement to the National Homebuilding & Renovating Show, as our visitors are seeking to create their dream home and for many having the latest integrated technology is an increasingly important part of this"
