Centaur's Creative Community launches two new awards schemes and widens the appeal for young creative talent

Centaur Communications' Creative group of magazines and events is delighted to announce the launch of two new awards schemes and a major repackaging of an existing event designed to promote new young talent in the creative industries.

The Creative Review Type Awards - honouring excellence in type design
This is a new awards scheme designed to identify and reward the designers of the best new typefaces created over the past year. Despite the growth of online media and a perception in some quarters that typography is a dying art there has never been more interest in top quality typography and this has led to the creation of this awards scheme. An international team of judges will make awards to the designers of the best new typefaces created over the last twelve months across seven categories of type face design which include; Display, Text, Custom, Ornamental, Revival and Screen. The winners and shortlist will be announced in a special edition of Creative Review in December 2005.

The Benchmarks - the best in brand communication
A new awards scheme from Design Week that aims to identify the designers and clients - working together - who have created integrated brand communication programmes that raise the bar in this competitive design sector. Unlike other awards schemes one piece of brilliant work will not win a Benchmark but a body of work that demonstrates the designer's ability to project the brand's values across a number of communication platforms, typically on-line, in print and on packaging. The winners and short listed companies will be announced at a lunch on October 7th and published in the Benchmarks Book. All the results will be available at http://www.dw-benchmarks.co.uk from October 8th.

Creative Futures
Young creative talent in advertising and design can now enjoy greater exposure of their winning work. Creative Futures - formerly a two-day exhibition of design and advertising work from creative talent under 27 years old - has been repackaged into an award scheme where the winning work is published in a special edition of Creative Review magazine in November 2005. With worldwide readership levels of Creative Review in excess of 50,000, Creative Futures will now deliver a much larger audience for these young talents than its previous London-based exhibition format.
