Centaur Media plc (Centaur) sells Televisual magazine and changes the frequency of two monthly magazines

Centaur, the specialist business publishing and information company, is pleased to announce that it has sold its monthly magazine Televisual and is changing the focus of two monthly magazines, Process Engineering and Metalworking Production.

Televisual has been sold to Televisual Media UK Ltd, a new company set up by James Bennett, the publisher of Televisual, to buy the magazine. The focus of Process Engineering and Metalworking Production is moving from print to online, by reducing the frequency of print publication and increasing their online focus to give better coverage of breaking news and stronger analysis in print, with enhanced access for users of the sites to industry vacancies.

Televisual is Centaur's only magazine in the Broadcast sector and a strategic decision has been taken that this was not an area that the company would be developing. James Bennett has been the publisher of the magazine for the last 7 years. Graham Sherren, Centaur's Chairman and CEO, says, "James has been with Centaur for many years and knows the Broadcast community very well. If anyone can make a success of Televisual he will. Sadly it is below the radar as far as Centaur is concerned and I wish James all the luck in the world".

Process Engineering (PE) is to launch a new fortnightly email newsletter and revamp its website as it shifts its emphasis to new ways of delivering key business information to the process market.

The website will be the focus for news delivery with the magazine providing detailed case studies of plant operations, alongside process and control technology applications in action. The magazine will now be published every other month to allow for this shift to exclusive plant operations-based editorial.

Centaur is one of the UK's leading business-to-business publishers. Centaur's publications prior to this acquisition include nine weeklies and one fortnightly. Amongst its titles are Marketing Week, New Media Age (NMA), Design Week, Creative Review, The Lawyer, Finance Week, Money Marketing and The Engineer. Most of these titles also have a significant online presence either in their own right or as part of the mad.co.uk portal.

The fortnightly email newsletter will push news out to PE's readership of process, control and plant engineers. It will also contain details of process-related jobs, which will appear both on a new Process Jobs site and on Centaur's market-leading EngineerJobs site. Speaking about the changes, PE's group publisher, Sean Marshall, says, "The improvements we are making to PE reflect the way that readers increasingly want to receive information. The unique editorial approach means that the magazine can now concentrate on delivering case studies and analysis that engineers can apply to their work environment."

Metalworking Production (MWP) is increasing its news frequency with a fortnightly electronic newsletter in reponse to requests from readers. This links back to an expanded website offering visitors an improved directory of products and suppliers as well as enhanced recruitment opportunities.

Publishing Director Robin Coates comments, "Moving MWP to a bi-monthly magazine frequency allows the editorial team to prepare more detailed analytical material for the readership to get more fully behind the main issues and challenges that face the sector. And the enhanced online products will keep readers up-to-date with industry news and jobs far more effectively than a monthly magazine was able to."

Graham Sherren, Centaur's Chairman and CEO, comments, "These changes are key markers of the way that the provision of business information in the UK is changing. Our readers want different types of information with differing frequencies and we are moving quickly to meet their requirements."
